Meet Barney!

Well Carrie gave me the call that she had a new foster for me! I was beyond excited since I've been kinda sad since Quinn (now named Ginger) has been gone. I had a work meeting tonight as well as dog training so I had Rick (my husband) go pick him up. I just met him like an hour ago and think he's the cutest little thing around!! His name is Barney and he's about 2 years old. He's a chihuahua mixed with something but I just can't figure it out! He's absolutely adorable!! I can't wait for the next few days to unravel and see his personality really come out. So far, he's just a sweet sweet dog that apparently loves to snuggle!! I mean come on, what else could someone want? Well here are some pictures I just took of him. they're not great but it's what I could get quickly.

Quinn Is Adopted!!

That's right, Quinn/Flower was adopted by a wonderful couple with a chihuahua puppy named Buddy!! I was really really hesitant about adopting her out to anyone because I wanted to keep her myself! But I then realized, my journey of fostering dogs wasn't over yet and as long as I found the right home for Quinn, I was happy. Well we had A LOT of applications for her and I sobbed just reading through them because 1. I didn't want to give her up and 2. no one fit the bill!

Carried finally found D & C and they seemed great. After emailing D back and forth, I just KNEW they were the right parents for Quinn. She works at home, has a HUGE yard and has another chihuahua that's full of energy that will tire Quinn out. Perfect!! I FINALLY met D & C in the city on my son's first birthday and they fell in love with her as quickly as I did! It was really hard for me to say my "goodbyes" but I managed to hug and kiss her a few more times then walked away crying hysterically. D has been in touch with me every day and sending me pictures which is amazing. I not only found Quinn an amazing family, I made a great new friend too! I know Quinn will still be in my life somehow so I'm ok with this.

The house has been very quiet without her here but it's about to get crowded again! Wednesday I'm picking up my new foster named Barney. He's a 2 year old chihuahua from the same shelter that Quinn was from! Isn't he the cutest??

My Baby Girl

I can't help but fall more in love with Quinn every day (I guess I should start calling her flower since that's her name on petfinder but Quinn is such a great name and she's starting to respond to it! She doesn't look like a flower) it's getting bad. I really would love to adopt her but my husband thinks we should foster a few more. My heart is like breaking thinking of giving her to a new family but I know she'll be fine as long as we find a great family with another dog. I really don't think she'd be happy with a family without another dog. The way she plays and interacts with my 3, it's amazing to watch. Before, I took them all outside in my backyard and Jameson looooooooves to get chased after by the other 2. Well Quinn joined in on the fun and ran after her. She's really fast for a pup! Finnegan fell on her and she tumbled once but she did great. She's laying next to me on the bed right now. Well I'm going to go cuddle with her and enjoy whatever time I have left with her. *sniffles*

I gave her a bath and she didn't like it very much! But she was good. no nipping or anything. Just a lot shaking. If she was a little older, I'd probably shave her paw pads and sanitary area but she's only 10 weeks so I didn't.

Baby Flower!

So I went into Williamsburg to pick up my new foster. She's a 10 week old papillon/chihuahua mix. She is the most gorgeous little puppy I've ever seen!! Such a sweetheart, gives lots of kisses and is such a fiesty little one too. She keeps smacking my pitbull in the face. It's hilarious! and Jameson just takes it. Jameson keeps crying cause she wants to play with Flower (that's her "name" but i've been calling her Quinn) but she knows that she's too strong to play with her. I have a bad feeling about Quinn. I have a feeling I'm going to want to keep her. She is just a doll and I've been wanting a puppy puppy for awhile. Must..Be..Strong!! I don't want to be a foster failure haha. Although I think I'd be crazy and STILL try to foster if I adopted another dog. I can't save every dog in the world but I'm sure as hell going to try! Well time to go to bed. She's sleeping on the bed with all of us. Till tomorrow, goodnight everyone!

She's hiding

A Puppy!!

I just got an email about a new puppy I'm going to be picking up tonight. I don't know her name yet but she's a 4lb papillon/chihuahua mix puppy from I believe a puppy mill in TN. She's absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to have my new foster and start this process all over. I have no doubt in my mind that she won't be with me very long. I mean come on, look at her face! She's GORGEOUS!! I'll update later when I pick her up.

Chicco's Got Adopted!!

Yep, that's right. I met with J & G tonight in their home in Woodside and they were an amazing couple! They had a little terrier mix named Franny too so Chicco (now named Kevin) has a little sister!! (she's not even a year yet) The 2 got along so great and J & G really took to Kevin so fast! I knew just from talking to J that they were going to be a perfect match but I still had my guard up and had to make sure in person they would click and they absolutely did. I heard Kevin crying when I left and that literally broke my heart. I cried the whole way to my car. I only had him for 3 days but grew so close with him in those short days! He was one of the sweetest dogs, so well behaved. Just very loving. I'm really happy we found him his furrever home though! He deserved it so so much! Hopefully I'll be getting a new foster in a day or so. Just waiting to hear back from them. I'm thinking once I get a new foster, my heart will be healed a little and it'll get easier for me. Well here are some pictures I took today of Kevin and with his new sister Franny

Chicco

Last night I went to Queens to pick up my first foster dog, Chicco, a 3-4 year old chihuahua/pug mix. He was a stray that was picked up by Animal Care & Control. He is such a sweet sweet boy! He cried the whole way home in my travel crate but he was scared. He's been through a lot in his young life! Rick met me outside and introduced each dog individually. Jameson growled when Chicco sniffed her in her face (she doesn't like that unless it's our dogs) but she was great with him. Finnegan and O'Malley took to him quickly. They wanted to know what the hell he was. :-) Last night was a little hard with trying to feed the baby, make dinner and try to make sure they don't hurt each other. The dogs were trying to figure out who was the alpha so lots of annoying each other, barking, etc.

When it came to bed time, we decided it was best to have him sleep in the crate while our dogs slept on our bed. I didn't want the dogs to think this random dog was taking over their bed and sleeping with their owners. he whimpered for about 2 minutes then went to bed. He was great. Today was a whole new day! They all played together and slept together. They're a lot more accepting of each other today. I know it's the norm for dogs to try to be more dominant over each other.

Waggytails actually found a potential adopter which is really quick and he might be going home with them tomorrow! That was a quick quick foster. I'm happy he'll actually get settled and have his furrever home though. Here are some pictures of Chicco.
